The Norfolk and Waveney Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Service (SaLT) provides evidence-based support for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), and for children with dysphagia (eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties).
Our service is jointly commissioned by Health and Education to deliver a graduated response to meet the individual needs of children and young people (CYP). Our team supports families wherever possible. As an NHS provider, we deliver evidence-based clinical intervention according to an individual’s assessed need, ensuring they are seen in the right place, at the right time and by the right person.
Intervention can be delivered in several different ways. This will be through direct support such as sessions with a speech and language therapist or assistant practitioner, or indirect via advice, strategies and/or training shared with parent/carer/SENCO.
The way in which a CYP is supported may change at different points throughout their development and as such we will always offer an individualised episode of care to meet the current communication needs of the CYP.
Communication is an essential life skill and to make progress children need help from important adults in their life.
The Speech and Language Therapy team are committed to working with everyone - from parents and carers to education and health professionals. By working together, we can best support children’s speech, language and communication needs. Our Speech and Language Therapy team are highly skilled, passionate and dedicated to supporting speech, language and communication for children and young people.
We will always offer an individualised Episode of Care to meet the communication needs of the child at a particular point in time.
